Hot Thread Cutting for Maximum Seam Quality
The hot thread cutter is a thermal cutting system that doesn’t separate the thread mechanically but instead melts it cleanly using heat. This results in sealed, fray-free thread ends – essential when working with technical threads and demanding materials. At the same time, the heat cut ensures the thread is cleanly fixed at the start, allowing the sewing process to begin without residual thread disruptions. The result: a reliable, clean production flow and visually perfect seam transitions.
Liersch ASC – Automatic Shuttle Changer
The automatic shuttle changer is a newly developed system that significantly increases the autonomy, process stability, and productivity of barrel hook sewing automats. It performs a fully automatic replacement of the complete shuttle without any operator intervention, while ensuring consistently high seam quality throughout the entire production process.
Benefits:
- Magazine with 12 shuttle slots for long production cycles without manual intervention
- Automatic changeover: when the lower thread is depleted, the hook ring opens, the complete barrel hook shuttle is removed, and safely stored in the magazine
- The system turns the magazine, automatically detecting the next fully loaded shuttle and positions it for insertion
- Before installing the new shuttle, the lower thread is cut to the exact required length – ensuring identical seam quality without the need for an additional test piece
Fields of Application
Automotive

Every seam counts when sewing seat belts: belt loops, buckle attachments and retractor connections are load-bearing and must hold in every crash. The Liersch 606 processes multi-layer webbing with its barrel shuttle and strong thread pull, sews programmed seam patterns with repeat accuracy and documents every seam with the TMS. With ASC and hot cutting, belt production runs almost autonomously – proven on our test stand in three-shift continuous operation.
Mattresses & Upholstery
Read more
Mattresses and upholstered furniture need strong, clean seams through thick layers: carrying handles, labels, borders and cover reinforcements. The large presser foot lift of the 606 accommodates high material build-ups, and the programmed sewing field ensures identical handle and label positions on every mattress – at volumes that can hardly be sewn economically by hand.
Horse Saddles
Read more
Saddlery work such as girth straps, stirrup leathers and saddle girths joins thick leather with webbing – load-bearing and visible at the same time. The 606 sews these connections with a clean stitch appearance and exactly reproducible seam patterns, so that even small series are produced in consistent quality without the variation of hand sewing.
Parachutes
Read more
Parachute harnesses, risers and connecting lines are personal safety in the literal sense. The Liersch 606 sews webbing and technical fabrics with a defined stitch count and thread tension; TMS thread monitoring detects skipped stitches and false seams during sewing and provides the documentation that parachute system manufacturers need for certification and traceability.
Technical Textiles
Read more
Technical textiles cover applications in which material and seam transmit forces: lifting slings and lashing straps, big bags, tarpaulins, filter elements, protective equipment. The 606 processes heavy fabrics, coated materials and multi-layer build-ups with its barrel shuttle; sewing field sizes from S to XL and customer-specific clamping systems adapt the automat to the part.
Harnesses & Rescue Equipment
Read more
Climbing harnesses, fall-arrest harnesses (PPE against falls from height), rescue slings and recovery straps are subject to strict standards and testing obligations. With the 606, the load-bearing seams are sewn to programme, with constant thread length and – in combination with TMS – fully documented. This makes it possible to prove for every harness that the safety-relevant seam was produced correctly.
Maximum Reliability in Continuous Operation
The Liersch 606 series is consistently designed for continuous, multi-layer production environments. Its exceptional robustness is not incidental, but the result of intensive testing under production-like conditions. To achieve this, Liersch has developed its own highly advanced test stand, pushing machines to their absolute load limits. Not only the mechanical components, but also the complete software architecture and proprietary sensor technology are developed in-house. This provides a decisive advantage: loads, material fatigue and long-term performance can be precisely measured, analysed and optimized before the machines are deployed in industrial production.

Liersch TMS
Our intelligent Thread Monitoring System (TMS) delivers reliable and precise control of your sewing processes. The system continuously monitors thread flow and stitch formation, detecting deviations in real time during the production process. As a result, skipped stitches, thread breakage, and other quality impairments are immediately flagged and the cause is displayed directly to the operator. TMS ensure that every seam meets the high quality standards of your production process — regardless of operator or batch size. This increases process reliability and creates full transparency throughout the entire sewing operation. For further technical details and application options, please visit our TMS product page.
