Choosing the Right Needle
- System before size: the needle system is determined by the machine – shank diameter, total length and shank-to-eye distance must match exactly
- Size according to thread and material: Nm corresponds to the blade diameter in hundredths of a millimetre – Nm 100 equals 1.00 mm
- Point according to material: R for woven fabrics, SES and SUK ball points for knitwear, LR, LL and D cutting points for leather
- When in doubt, ask: the wrong needle costs more than it saves – skipped stitches, thread breakage and material damage are the result
